OKA17 - Ramy, Effing Seatbelts, Foo Fighters Throwback

And the rant about the Alabama abortion bill when we tried to not talk about the Alabama abortion bill.

For crying out loud, we're back!

We tried to stay away from the Alabama abortion bill but we could not help it.

Our reaction to the most excellent Hulu show, Ramy. And a deep dive into why modern tv is an increasingly intense commitment.

We delve into the frustrating crisis in Wyoming of negligence on the road, in particular people's aversion to wearing seatbelts in our state.

There is Nothing Left to Lose is a crowning achievement in the Foo Fighters catalog. Madd and I share our fondest memories of this album

OKA16 - Tiny Houses on Amazon, Knock Down the House

The one from last week!

Hello folks!

Life got in the way for us last week and we just weren't able to share our podcast until today, so this week gets two episodes!

On Episode 16, we discuss the big news that Amazon is selling tiny homes now and we wonder if this is the future of the beginning of the end. Also, we veer into transhumanism a bit, as well as the failed dreams of a generation... You know, light stuff.

We also review the Netlix doc Knock Down the House, a riveting look at some of the underdogs of the 2018 midterms.

Peace,

J&M

OKA15 - Teresa's Top 5 Films, Drinks and Disarray with Special Guests

And we almost forgot to tink!

A milestone episode!

On this one, we are joined by not one, but three guests! Friends of the pod Teresa and Brad came over for dinner and discuss Teresa's Top 5 Films! Catty G joins us from the living room couch and a laid back conversation ensues about movies and what we liked to watch growing up. This has been the most effortless OKA episode to date. Thanks for stopping by, friends!

PS, Jaime formally issues an apology for using B-Rad as Brad's podcasting name. That was not cool.

OKA14 - Get Smart, Civility in Iowa, Throwback to Coachella

We finally received our Spring order from Las Jaras wines. It was delicious!

On this one, we wanted to toast to something lighthearted in light of recent tragedies around the world: Let's have a laugh with Get Smart, with the great Steve Carell doing what he does best.

Then we cover a little moment of civility in Iowa thanks to Andy Mckean.

Finally, we get to reminisce about what Coachella used to be versus the behemoth it has turned into today.

Let's tink our glasses!

OKA13 - Ryan's Toy Review, It's Mueller Time II, Beyonce on Netflix

Recording on a Sunday threw us in for a loop.

Let's see if we're gonna tink glasses to these topics:

Ryan's Toy Review: a celebration of consumerism. Does everyone want to become a youtuber?

The Mueller Report Released! First reactions about the madness of Barr's press conference, little facts we learned, and what's coming next.

Beyonce slaying on Netflix with her Coachella concert doc. Need we say more?

Thanks for stopping by,

OKA12 - Capturing the Unicorn, Schitt's Creek, That Acoustic 90s Playlist on Spotify

As J continues to search for that idea that will make millions.

Welcome to Our Kid's Asleep! 3 Things to possibly toast to:

  • Capturing the Unicorn. Richard Preston's account of "The Unicorn Tapestries" and the incredible story of how the Pi brothers came to save the day! Read Richard Preston's work at the New Yorker.

  • Schitt's Creek. The delightful show from the Eugene Levys make for a good time on Netflix. Our take on it and the joy of watching rich people be poor for once. Thank you for this one, Canada.

  • That Acoustic 90s Playlist on Spotify. Listen here, that one brought back a flurry of memories including saucy movies like Cruel Intentions, the glory days of MTV and VH1, and other repressed memories we found down the rabbit hole.

What should talk about next? Drop us a line at our brand new email [email protected]! Peace,

J & M

OKA11 - Mad About Bridges, Touchy Biden, Great Book Finds and PEN15

Now with 30% more Special Guest Catty G!

Here we go!

Maddie and I find ourselves enraged at the complete lack of investment in our country's infrastructure. Specifically, neglected bridges are the cause of our ire on this one.

Shortly thereafter, we grapple with Joe Biden's incessant need to be touchy-feely. We get it, Guy. Cool it.

A little shoutout to our local library for putting on a great book sale!

And lastly, friend of the show Catty G joins us to discuss the hilarity and awkwardness of the new Hulu series PEN15.

And of course, who doesn't like to daydream about starting a custom and/or branded T-shirt business? Hope you join us on our latest episode.

OKA10 - Billie Eilish Album, Single Men Troubles, Into the Spiderverse

PSA: Our kid recorded the theme song before he fell asleep.

Welcome to the show where we talk about three things and decide on toasting our wine glasses to it or not. "Tinks" all around!

On this go round we chat about the new Billie Eilish Album, and the feeling you get when you find some new tunes that resonate with you.

Thanks to this headline we found on Twitter from The Washington Post, now we have to talk about how single men in America are not having sex as much as they used to be.

And lastly, strange when a movie actually surprises you these days: Maddie and I discuss the wonder that is Spider Man: Into the Spiderverse!

Much love,

OKA9 - Positive Stories vs Nonstop Breaking News, Mueller Time, Asteroid Fever of 98

This isn't the end of the asteroid movie talk...

This week, on our way to talk about some FBI report, Maddie and J wonder why the hell we don't get enough positive stories to counter the alarmist news reporting these days.

Finding Positive Stories vs Nonstop Breaking News

It's Mueller Time! Mueller finally turned the report in, and this was our immediate reaction...

And of course, we begin a healthy discussion on the great Asteroid Fever of 1998, which marked the great blockbuster duel between Armageddon and Deep Impact. This won't be the last word on this, the most complicated issue of our time.
