Our Kid's Asleep

Hi folks!

Just in the nick of time, we got our podcast episode in! Very proud of ourselves, much wow:

Madd could not wait to share some thoughts on Stephen King's latest, The Institute. She read it like a mad person in record time so let's hear some critical and emotional reactions!

Just when we thought it couldn't get more obvious, this Ukraine business gets blown wide open by Bill Taylor's statement to Congress. Will the Democrats continue to twiddle their thumbs or impeach? Let's rage together!

Lastly, we wanted to spend a few minutes praising and sharing our love for the one and…

Wow, hi folks!

Happy to be back as we celebrated Madd's birthday this weekend!

In honor of the little adventures we had this weekend, we thought to keep things slightly local and chat about Casper and some of the cool things to do this weekend. Casper ain't so bad! Also, we are in no way, shape or form affiliated with the City of Casper nor its marketing entities. What the hell, can't I just say something nice about Casper?

Since it's spooky scary October, we're doing blurbs and quick shoutouts to our favorite spooky scary films. This time around we babble on and rejoice in the 70s joy of Richard Donner's The Omen. Catholic guilt, here we go again!

Lastly, a breakthrough! Madd and I find a new way to cover the news! Give it a listen! …

Hi there, Here's what we have going on in this episode:

Tom Segura: We had the pleasure of watching the water champ/comedian Tommy Bunz at the Buell in Denver and we laughed, cried, and cringed.

We looked at top news headlines on Reddit over the last seven days. ...Why are we like this?

We're doing some blurbs on a few of our favorite spooky scary movies and books, enjoy a little shoutout to Kubrick vs King as they battled over The Shining.

Much love,

J&M

Okay here we go!

On this episode, we'd like to share our first reaction to Bill Burr's hilarious new comedy special, Paper Tiger.

We try the Reddit News Headlines Recap under a time crunch, and Maddie gives us some immediate responses after checking out Stephen King's IT (the first chapter). Scary spooky movies are definitely not her thing.

Come one, come all! Have a good week, folks!

Here we go, let's talk about three things:

On this one, we go back to the beginning of the millennium when the Lord of the Rings trilogy came out and everything changed. We share some thoughts on Two Towers, because as we tend to do at our house, we start in the middle and figure out the rest. The first of a few talks on the timeless Lord of the Rings films.

Next up we cover the top headlines on reddit this week (our new segment to find one feel-good headline!).

And to end on a good note, Maddie and I talk about email correspondence back in the day. It is definitely a throwback kind of episode. Shoot us an email at [email protected] if there's something you'd like us to cover or to say hi! …

Hello folks!

Here we have an interesting episode where we talk about two things and then some:

First off, we discuss Amazon's Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, a delightful award-winning series we just started watching. If you haven't seen it, stop by for a listen!

In lieu of picking something off the headlines, Madd and I thought we should look at reddit for inspiration and decided to check out the top headlines from this past week to find one uplifting headline. Might be the way to handle headlines moving forward, we'll see!

And lastly, we wanted to get into the Disneyverse for a moment and talk about one of our favorite movies from childhood: Aladdin. We may have gone on a magic carpet ride express tangent about Disney's insatiable lust for power, remakes, and our anticipation for Disney…

Happy Wednesday! OKA brings you today:

The marvel and wonder that is Wyoming's musical gem and best kept secret, The Oyster Ridge Music Festival. Great fun, outstanding talent from across the country, and the kindest people you've ever met, all in Kemmerer, WY!

Next up, we cover Andrew Yang, who is currently challenging for the Democratic nomination, as well as the fervor of his #yanggang. If you'd like to know more about the candidate, check out his JRE interview in which he concisely lays out his agenda just as he wants to. Sounds like a nice guy!

Lastly, we come to the realization that J's sister, Brenda, has great TV recommendations. She made us watch Queer Eye and now we can't stop. …

Episode 21 coming at ya!

On this one, we get a profanity prologue because J has a crisis about swears and whether they are a weapon of language or a crutch.

We discuss two awesome movies we watched back to back: Crazy Rich Asians and Always be my Maybe.

Trump vs The Squad: We can't even.

Lastly, we cover The Sandlot and the birth of a new segment: Stuff J missed out on growing up in Mexico.

We'll try to get back on schedule by channeling Matt Foley's wisdom to get our life back on track. Be well, friends. Much love. -J & M …

We made it to Episode 20!

Here's what it sounds like when friends come over! We're lucky to have had Steve, Teresa, and Brad come over and celebrate the 20th episode with us in this low-key conversation about Steve's time in the Air Force, our feel-good movies growing up, and some thoughts on the Simpsons.

Thanks for listening friends!

Hi folks, it's been a while! We want to talk about three things:

It's FOMO time! J goes on an intermittent social media blackout and we discuss the repercussions of leaving social media for even a day. Let's discuss how linked to the system we really are!

We finally get to have our long-awaited conversation about HBO's superb new miniseries, Chernobyl. While we tried to keep the spoilers to a minimum, please consider watching the show before listening to this episode.

And then it's Tenacious D! On this throwback segment, Madd and I return to one of the bands that defined the coming of age of a generation. Specifically, we focus on their self-titled debut album. Hilarious, foul-mouthed, genius. Hope you join us on this one! …
